Cal State LA utilizes Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS) to support laboratory and activity-based compliance. All personnel involved in these activities have access to RSS and can view their profiles. However, visibility within the system is restricted unless individuals are assigned to a designated group. To be added to a group, users must first log in, allowing the RSS system to recognize them. Once logged in, group owners can immediately assign them to the appropriate group.
Tips Before Logging Into RSS

RSS works best when running on the most updated software. If you are using a mobile device, ensure your mobile application is updated before use.
When creating either a hazard assessment, group, or sublocation on RSS it is best to use the desktop version as the mobile application does not allow for much flexibility.
When a person is added to a group there are several actions that are required. Group owners are usually Principal Investigators (PIs) or responsible person(s) who oversee the laboratories or activities and are responsible for adding all working personnel to their group and completing a hazard assessment.
Please note that to add a person to your group the person will need to log into RSS at least once before so that the RSS system can capture their information. Once a person logs in, the group owner can immediately add them. If you are having issues please reach out directly to RSS using their ticketing system, which can be found at the bottom of all the RSS webpages.
If you are a member of a group but not the owner you must 'Acknowledge' the Hazard Assessment for the group and associated space.
RSS provides some basic information on different roles and manual changes that can be created within your group. Please visit their 'Help' webpage, and if you do not see the answer you are looking for please use the RSS Ticketing System for help.
